Meet The Staff – Kevin

Meet The Staff – Kevin

We think it is nice to know who you are speaking to on the phone and a little about the person who may turn up to maintain your building.  This month we get to know a little more about Kevin Boys.

So Kevin how long have you been with SPA?

Oh just about 24 years now although it feels like 50!  Actually it has passed very quickly as the job is always varied and keeps me busy!

Whats a typical day for you?

I really don’t think there is a typical day – I’m an electrician by trade so I’ll generally work on those jobs but certainly not exclusively.  I can be looking at 4 or 5 varied jobs in different locations around London in any one day whist some weeks I may work exclusively on one job on one site.

As the Head Engineer what other responsibilities do you have?

An important role is mentoring and assessing new recruits – we always have new starters working in a 2 man team with myself so that we can asses their aptitude and ability for various tasks. It’s also important to let them know, as some may be from varying backgrounds, that quality shouldn’t be compromised for speed.

When you’re not at work how do you spend your time?

I take trips on my bike.  I’ll  be heading across the states with my wife in the summer, walking our  dog Tilly and I’m not averse to a little pilates in order to keep my back in order!

Are you ready for Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards ( MEES) legislation ? We can help.

As you are aware From 1 April 2018, landlords of buildings within the scope of the MEES Regulations must not renew existing tenancies or grant new tenancies if the building has less than the minimum energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of E unless the landlord registers an exemption.
