Are you ready for Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards ( MEES) legislation ? We can help.

As you are aware From 1 April 2018, landlords of buildings within the scope of the MEES Regulations must not renew existing tenancies or grant new tenancies if the building has less than the minimum energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of E unless the landlord registers an exemption. After 1 April 2023, landlords must not continue to let any buildings which have an EPC rating of less than E unless the landlord registers an exemption.

It has also been noted that banks are considering this area when property owners are looking to refinance as impacts on their security.

The good news is The BEES survey suggests that there is still significant potential to improve energy efficiency within businesses by a further 39%. One third of the identified savings relate to measures which have a payback period of 3 years or less. The main identifiable savings relate to lighting, energy management and controls, and space heating.
